Taking no action is a decision.

Updated: Sep 17, 2020

This is one of my favourite quotes at the moment. For me, it's a powerful one when faced with the scenario of a team that feels they are too busy to take action.

By taking no action, teams are acknowledging that they are aware of dysfunction, but are not doing anything to resolve it.

They are accepting their reality and dooming themselves to repeat past failures. They are not learning and not inspecting & adapting.

This can be linked to decision paralysis wherein group or individual is unable to decide between a number of options.

Don't allow perfect to be the enemy of good. "Imperfect action is better than no action".

How do you coach teams through this challenge? What quotes or approaches do you leverage in this scenario?
